Online Program
Dates: Jan 09, 2021 - Jan 12, 2021

Instructor(s): Catherine McGee, Yahel Avigur

Program Description:

Soulmaking practices serve to open our senses of sacredness and meaningful participation in the cosmos. They grow out of an understanding of the Buddha’s radical teachings on emptiness, as well as practices of mindfulness, metta, and samatha, and a care for ethics. Through wisely discerning explorations of our ways of looking, of imagination, and of the movements of desire, we liberate beauty, discovery, and creativity, and expand our ranges of knowing and responding to our world.

Intended for meditators who have already begun to explore Soulmaking Dharma, this online program offers an opportunity to consolidate and extend their Soulmaking practice and understanding.

Prerequisites:

This program requires applicants to have attended and completed the fall online Soulmaking program through BCBS in 2019 or 2020 and/or have attended at least one Soulmaking program with Rob Burbea and/or Catherine McGee.

    About the Instructor(s):
  • Catherine McGee  has been teaching Insight Meditation retreats internationally since 1999.  She is a Gaia House teacher council member, teaches yearly at IMS and BCBS, and is a guiding teacher for One Earth Sangha – a web-based sangha exploring Buddhist responses to the climate and ecological crises. She collaborated closely with Rob Burbea in shaping and teaching "A Soulmaking Dharma" from 2014 -2020.

  • Yahel Avigur is a teacher in the Insight Meditation tradition. He completed his teacher training in 2020 under the guidance of Rob Burbea, with a particular emphasis on Emptiness and Jhana practices. Currently, he is training to teach Soulmaking Dharma, guided by Catherine McGee. Yahel is also trained in the Hakomi approach of assisted self-study.
