Program Description:

A striking theme that emerged from the Dharma and Arts symposium at BCBS in April 2016 was the realization that for many of those present the practice of art and the practice of dharma overlapped and intersected to the point where it was difficult to differentiate between the two. Practicing Art/Practicing Dharma builds on this insight by offering a program that focuses on the broad meaning of “practice” while providing sufficient time and space for participants to engage in their own Dharma/Art practices.

Each morning will include periods of contemplative practice; a formal presentation of bridging ideas between Dharma and Art; as well as facilitated and open discussion. The afternoon will be entirely devoted to developing individual or collaborative art projects in whatever medium or form one chooses. It is recommended that one arrives at Barre with a specific project in mind and brings whatever materials are needed. The center will do its best to provide working space, indoors and/or outdoors, in the beautiful grounds of BCBS. The evening session will allow us to reflect on, consolidate and share whatever has arisen from our practice during the day.

This program intended for those who have a Dharma and artistic practice.
