This retreat will be offered residentially in Barre, and Leigh and Heather will facilitate and conduct interviews virtually via video conference. Lottery is Closed. Participants will listen to Dharma talks in the meditation hall together and will take interviews in spaces set up for them.
This retreat explores training in the meditative absorptions and how they support deepening insights into emptiness. Instructions for meditative absorptions (jhānas) are taught from the lineage of Ayya Khema. Teachings and practices in maturing insight into emptiness are taught from influences in the Thai Forest tradition, with complementary perspectives from the suttas and also Mahayana teachings. Short periods of Metta (lovingkindness) practice and occasional Qi Gong practice will be offered as well. To support deepening practice, participants will check in individually with a teacher every three days.
For programs 10 days or more, we will administer a second round of COVID-19 tests three days into the retreat. If all tests are negative, masks will be optional at that point.
Noble silence will begin with the opening talk on the first evening and continue through the closing session.
Suitable for intermediate and advanced practitioners.
The prerequisite for this course is sitting 2 one-week (or longer) residential or Zoom retreats.
The lottery will close at 11:59 PM US Eastern time on January 2, 2023 and spaces will be offered by January 9. Payment will be due three days from notification of acceptance. Click for more information about our lottery courses.
