Dhammavicaya, or investigation of dhammas, is the quality of mind that makes it possible for us to objectively and correctly discern what we are experiencing in any given moment: to know it without attachment. As one of the energizing Factors of Awakening, it is a key player in the process of liberating the mind. Given our strong habit of identification with the body and mind, however, it can take some time to develop. This course is intended for students who are interested in strengthening both their theoretical understanding of dhammavicaya and their direct experience through practice. It will include contemplation of the suttas, Dhamma talks and reflections, and group discussions. Most of the day will be spent in silent meditation practice, directly and experientially exploring the material covered in the teachings.
