The Art of Interbeing

The Order of Interbeing was founded in the Linji tradition of Buddhist meditative practice by Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh in 1966. He emphasized that “Everything relies on everything else in the cosmos in order to manifest—whether a star, a cloud, a flower, a tree, or you and me.”

What does it mean to live grounded in this reality and sensibility? How does this inform our thinking, speech, and behavior? We will practice with deep looking into ourselves, nature, and our environment. Together we will experience the wisdom and joy of experiencing our interconnectedness with all beings. Skillful means for our practice will include silence, indoor and outdoor meditation, deep relaxation, artistic expression, music, song, and dance. Diane Little Eagle will also share story, song and dance from her Alaska and Canada First Nations ancestors.

As part of our celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Order of Interbeing, we will offer participants an opportunity to receive the Five Mindfulness Trainings in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.

Program Format: The mornings will include dharma talks, walking, and sitting meditation.Afternoons will include experiential practices with movement, music, art, nature, journaling, deep relaxation. The afternoon and evening sessions will have silence along with relational practice.
