Contract Per Diem Housekeeper
The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies seeks a professional, energetic, and detail-oriented contract per diem housekeeper for the 2027 calendar year to clean guest rooms and common areas on turnover days between retreats. This role requires flexibility, self-direction, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
This is a contracted (1099), hourly position with a pay rate of $18-20 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
- The contracted per diem housekeeper will work on turnover days throughout the year, based on the center’s retreat schedule. This will be between 3-5 days per month.
- Hours are 9:00 AM–4:30 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
- Applicants should be able to commit to at least 80% of turnover days throughout the year. Click here for the full job description and the dates.
Primary Duties
- General Housekeeping: Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows, and other routine cleaning tasks. All supplies are provided.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional housekeeping or cleaning experience
- Ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and organizational abilities
- Position requires physical labor, including bending, lifting, and carrying objects up to 40lbs
- Available to work scheduled turnover days
- Reliable transportation, including during winter months
- US work authorization
- Complete a pre-employment background check
