A Retreat That Can Change a Teen’s Life
Vijjā (insight) comes from many places. My journey began on a meditation retreat with Inward Bound Mindfulness (iBme, as it was known when I attended). The lessons and experiences I gained on that first retreat, and those that followed, changed the trajectory of my life. They led me to study religion in college, ordain as a Theravāda Buddhist monastic, and eventually join the team at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies (BCBS).
Everyone’s path is different, but I cannot recommend Inward Bound highly enough. The organization brings tremendous mettā (loving-kindness) to its work and demonstrates a genuine commitment to the well-being of the teenagers it serves. Whether a young person is curious about meditation, interested in Dharma, or simply looking for a space where they can feel seen, heard, and supported, Inward Bound offers an opportunity to explore, connect, and grow.
This winter, Inward Bound is hosting its Northeast New Year’s Teen Retreat, an opportunity to step away from the usual pace of life, unplug, and reconnect with yourself and others. Through mindfulness, community, and shared experience, participants can reflect on the year behind them and set intentions for the year ahead.

Sometimes, a single retreat can change the direction of a life. Consider giving a teenager the opportunity to take that first step.
