Karin Meyers

Karin (Koshin) Meyers will be joining American University as Senior Professorial Lecturer in Asian and Buddhist philosophy in fall of 2024. She has spent the last four years as Academic Director of Mangalam Research Center in Berkeley, CA, and taught for seven years at Kathmandu University and Ranjung Yeshe Institute’s Centre for Buddhist Studies in Nepal, where she was Director of the Masters Program in Buddhist Studies. She has practiced Buddhism in Tibetan, Theravāda, and Zen traditions, and served as a Retreat Support Fellow at the Insight Meditation Society in 2019. She recently took precepts in the Zen Peacemakers Order with her primary teacher, Stephen (Mugen) Snyder and is currently training with him to teach the Buddha’s Heart practices (the brahmavihāras) as taught by the Ven. Pa Auk Sayadaw. She is also a certified associate instructor of Yoqi qi gong flow.
