Bob Stahl

Bob Stahl lived in a Buddhist monastery for over eight years and studied extensively with renowned Burmese meditation masters Taungpulu Kaba-Aye Sayadaw, Hlaing Tet Sayadaw, Dr. Rina Sircar, and Pokokhu Sayadaw. Bob has a PhD in Philosophy and Religion in Buddhist Studies. Bob founded seven Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction programs in medical centers in the SF Bay Area. He serves as an Assistant Professor of the Practice in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences in the School of Public Health at Brown University Mindfulness Center and formerly at the Oasis Institute for Mindfulness-Based Professional Education and Training at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Bob teaches mindfulness meditation retreats worldwide and is the former guiding teacher at Insight Santa Cruz and a visiting teacher at Spirit Rock, Insight Meditation Society, and Insight Retreat Center. He co-authors five books:  A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook (1st & 2nd editions), Living With Your Heart Wide Open, Calming the Rush of Panic, A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook for Anxiety, and MBSR Everyday.
