Transforming Death Anxiety into an Embrace of Mystery and Wonder

Watch a video invitation from Brad Hunter

Why are we afraid of and anxious about our own death? Can Buddhist insight and practice help us let go of our fear and death anxiety? If we examine our direct experience in safe, grounded, embodied ways, what is really in our control? And what exactly is the nature of this ‘self’ we are afraid to lose?

Fears about “the self” are at the core of death anxiety. For this reason, practices and teachings that see through the illusory nature of the self can transform fear of the unknown into an embrace of mystery and wonder. If we release our clinging to the unattainable need to control the flux of impermanence, we can begin to relax into trust in nature and the Dhamma. During this online weekend retreat, we will explore how insight and the experience of our conditioned nature can ease the heart and allow us to let go of death anxiety and fear.
