Introduction to a Soulmaking Dharma

Our Buddhist practice reveals that we are always participating in making the world through the ways we sense, see and act.

Understanding that perception is empty and shapeable, the Soulmaking practitioner learns to perceive themselves, others, and the world in Soulful ways.

These are ways of sensing and seeing that open further dimensionality, reveal more meaningfulness and beauty, and restore and expand our senses of sacredness.

Some practitioners are finding Soulmaking Dharma, rooted in the Buddha's teaching of emptiness, ethics, and meditative training, to be a particularly resonant path of contemporary Buddhist practice.

In this introductory program we will consider four of the key themes in a Soulmaking Dharma: Desire, Imagination, Sacredness and Emptiness. Each meeting will include meditation practices, teachings, discussion, and inquiries with Sangha and whole group reflections.

This program is intended for experienced Dharma practitioners who:

• are interested in learning more about Soulmaking Dharma;

• recognize a desire for more of something they might term soul, beauty, or sacredness;

• can readily access a full body awareness in their meditation practice;

• have an open mind.

In 2024 the Introduction to a Soulmaking Dharma weekend will be led by Yahel Avigur, who will be introduced by Catherine McGee at the beginning of the program.

Watch an invitation by Catherine on YouTube.

Affinity space will be offered for the break-out meetings during this program. Please watch a ‘diversity of souls’ video where Catherine reflects on how our particularities are related to from the perspective of Soulmaking Dharma.

Starting in September this year, there will also be an onlinethirteen-week intensive Foundations of a Soulmaking Dharma programfor experienced and committed practitioners who have a desire to dedicate themselves to understanding and learning more about Soulmaking Dharma. This introduction weekend can serve as a ‘stand alone’ program for those who would like a short introduction to this work. Or, for those who might be interested in taking the longer fall program, it can serve to give a better sense of the Soulmaking Dharma before applying to the fall program.
