Welcoming Maija Ploof to BCBS

We are delighted to introduce a new member of our community. Please join us in welcoming Maija Ploof as BCBS’s new Retreat Center Manager.

Maija grew up nearby in the woods of Hardwick. After working in Western Massachusetts hotels for ten years, she relocated to Brooklyn for graduate school and began a second career as an ELA and special education teacher. Supporting children and young adults with developmental disabilities has been her labor of love, and she says neurodiversity has taught her patience and the art of letting go of fixed expectations.

What drew Maija to BCBS was its peacefulness, its spirit of learning, and the feeling of being “home again.” She is excited to bring her skills in hospitality and education to support the retreats, community, and daily life of the center.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner and cats, reading, cooking, and watching bumblebees.
