Craig Hase

Craig Hase, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and mindfulness teacher. He began intensive meditation training in 1994 after reading a book by Joseph Goldstein, and then lived at a Zen monastery for six years before earning a PhD from UW-Madison’s counseling psychology graduate program, where he had the good fortune to learn from renowned neuroscientist Richard J. Davidson, contemplative scholar John Dunne, and other luminaries. While in his program, he served in out-patient and in-patient clinics, including a year at I Ola Lahui, a Hawaiian rural behavioral health clinic located on the islands of O’ahu and Moloka’i, doing post-colonial psychotherapy with a primarily Native Hawaiian population. He has designed mindfulness-based curricula for hospitals and schools, teaches meditation on the online app Simple Habit, and leads mindfulness and meditation workshops with his partner Devon in the United States and Europe.
