Olivia Q. Pintair is a writer and teacher inspired by Octavia E. Butler’s understanding of "god [as] change" and Homi K. Bhabha’s definition of “emergency [as] a state of emergence.” Olivia’s essays, interviews, and articles have appeared in Rain Taxi, The Rumpus, Tricycle Magazine, VTDigger, and other outlets. She is a co-founder and editor of Lullaby Machine, a digital lullaby library and e-magazine that explores rest through a cyberfeminist lens. Originally from Vermont, Olivia studied environmental religion and education at Middlebury College. After attending Touching the Earth as a participant in 2021, she returned as an assistant teacher in 2023 and 2024. Outside of Touching the Earth, Olivia has spent time in outdoor educational community at Bread and Butter Farm, Kroka Expeditions, and Arco Iris Mother Nature Center in New Mexico, teaching and learning with students ages 2-25. Currently, Olivia is an MFA candidate in creative writing at New York University, where she edits nonfiction for the Washington Square Review. In writing and in general, she is curious about shapeshifting, the ocean, the internet, animism, hysteria, otherworlds, secrets, and risk.
