A Letter From Bill and Susan Morgan

December 2021
Hello Dear Sangha!
As many of you heard this week, Bill and I are going on a year-long retreat starting January 1, 2022. We are excited. It has been 8 years since returning to the world after our four-year silent retreat. It’s time, time to go drop in again for a lengthier stretch of time to deepen and stabilize our practice.
We will miss ALL of you. Make no mistake. These mornings with all of you these past two years have been special. Do you see how a sangha has materialized out of thin air, materialized at a time when we need each other and need a practice that counters the norms of greed, hatred and delusion, and balances the forces that pull us off center and burden our hearts?
We feel all of you, your commitment to the practice, to showing up every day or many, and so we will keep it going in our absence. We are not retiring; we will be back! A group of six of our students who have worked with us for many years and know our style will carry the baton. You’ve met each of them over the past few months, David, Kohn, Jaye Moyer, Lori Riggle, Lee Steppacher, Maria Cimino, and Catherine Glenn. And, you’ll also likely recognize Dawn Scott, who has been a guest teacher for the past year.
You are in good hands. Since the summer these folks have been working hard behind the scenes preparing to hold space for all of you. They know the importance of sangha. They know the importance of creating a Holding Environment for themselves and for the collective. We are deeply moved by their commitment to all of you, to their own Dharma development and to our teaching. Many bows of appreciation and gratitude!!!
At this point you’ve met each of them and heard them share their Dharma. They are ordinary folk who understand what it means to be a serious student of the Dharma and a lay practitioner. In other words, they, like you, are very much in the world. Their Dharma is practical.
Starting January 1 there will be a few changes.
The Daily Sit will meet on weekdays only; Monday through Friday, from 10:30-11:15 am ET.
Teaching days on Monday & Wednesday. For 2022, there will be no Householder Retreats, however, we will be doing a residential retreat at BCBS in September 2022.
Finally, we will be offering our last sitting on New Year’s Eve from 9-12 pm ET on the Daily Sit Zoom link! Hope to see you there!
Please take good care and we’ll see you in 2023!
Warmly,
Bill & Susan
