This eight-week online program is an opportunity for people who self-identify as LGBTQIA+ to come together as sangha to learn and practice Insight Dialogue.

Insight Dialogue is a whole life meditation practice designed to help us be awake in our everyday lives, particularly as we engage in the complexity of interpersonal relationship. It brings together meditative awareness, the wisdom teachings of the Buddha, and the power of relationship to develop mindfulness, compassion, and insight. In this program we will be bringing wakeful awareness into the heart of speaking and listening, supported by the six Insight Dialogue guidelines. These guidelines help establish and sustain meditative qualities while contemplating the dharma in dialogue together, supporting inquiry and insight into present moment experience. Each week we will practice together as a large group and also in small breakout groups of pairs and threes.

 It is our intention to cultivate a deep and nourishing experience of refuge in LGBTQIA+ sangha as we move through these eight weeks together.

Prerequisites:
We welcome experienced Insight Dialogue practitioners as well as those new to Insight Dialogue; all participants need to have an established daily silent meditation practice of at least six months.
    About the Instructor(s):
  • Nicola Redfern is an Insight Dialogue Retreat Teacher with an extensive background in both Zen and Vipassana meditation.  With a strong belief that awakening is not simply a solo endeavor, Nic is particularly interested in getting meditation off the cushion and fully integrated into life, work, and relationships. She has taught multiple courses on climate emergency, unlearning racism, and Nonviolent Communication, as well as programs for LGBTQIA+. Nicola is originally from the UK and now lives near Santa Fe, NM.

  • Rachel Hammerman (she/her/they/them) teaches Vipassana meditation in New York City as a faculty member of the Community Meditation Center of New York and the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science. As an executive coach, she's particularly interested in helping people integrate Mindfulness and Loving Kindness into their professional lives to work with ease.
