How can we, as modern lay people, usefully connect with the Buddha's challenging teachings about the unsatisfactoriness of life? What if we doubt there is rebirth, or resist negative attitudes about sexuality and women enshrined in the texts? We will base our discussion on Chapter VI of In the Buddha's Words, the beloved anthology compiled by Bhikkhu Bodhi. This weekend welcomes those with an existing basis in sutta study as well as those who would like to begin that practice.
